Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
मुमुचुर्वैद्युतानग्नींस्ते महाशनयस्तदा ।
यानि भूतानि दृश्यानि चुक्रुशुश्चाशनेः समम् ॥६-२२-१२॥
mumucurvaidyutānagnīṃste mahāśanayastadā |
yāni bhūtāni dṛśyāni cukruśuścāśaneḥ samam ॥6-22-12॥
Translation
Those great thunderbolts released electrical fire. At that time, visible living beings cried out with a sound resembling thunder itself.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वे महान बिजलियाँ और वज्र अग्नि बरसाने लगे। उस समय जो प्राणी दिखाई दे रहे थे, वे वज्र के समान भीषण स्वर में चीत्कार करने लगे।
English Commentary
The distress is universal. The visible creatures are voicing their terror, their cries competing with the sound of the thunder. This auditory imagery amplifies the sense of panic. It illustrates that when a supreme power prepares for destruction, the innocent often suffer the terror along with the guilty.
हिंदी टीका
जीव-जगत की प्रतिक्रिया यहाँ स्पष्ट होती है। दृश्य प्राणी (पक्षी, पशु आदि) भय से आर्तनाद कर रहे हैं। उनकी चीखें भी बादलों की गर्जन ('अशनि') के समान ही तीव्र थीं। यह भय की पराकाष्ठा है जहाँ पीड़ित का स्वर पीड़क (वज्र) के स्वर जैसा हो गया है।
