Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
संप्रविव्यथिरे चापि न च पस्पन्दिरे भयात् ।
सहभूतैः सतोयोर्मिः सनागः सहराक्षसः ॥६-२२-१४॥
saṃpravivyathire cāpi na ca paspandire bhayāt |
sahabhūtaiḥ satoyormiḥ sanāgaḥ saharākṣasaḥ ॥6-22-14॥
Translation
Beings were in great distress and could not even move out of fear. The Ocean, along with its creatures, water, waves, snakes, and demons, also trembled.
हिंदी अनुवाद
प्राणी अत्यधिक व्यथित हो गए और डर के कारण हिल-डुल भी नहीं सके। अपने जल, लहरों, नागों और (पातालवासी) राक्षसों के साथ सागर भी (कांप उठा)।
English Commentary
The focus returns to the Ocean. The paralysis of fear affects the very constituent parts of the ocean—its waves and its inhabitants. The inclusion of 'Rakshasas' implies that the ocean was indeed a hiding place for negative forces, justifying Shri Rama's aggression.

अब प्रभाव सीधे लक्ष्य (सागर) पर दिखाई देता है। सागर, जो अपनी गंभीरता और स्थिरता के लिए जाना जाता है, अब अस्थिर है। उसके भीतर के नाग और राक्षस, जो उसकी शक्ति के स्रोत थे, वे भी असहाय हैं। यह श्लोक सागर के अहंकार के टूटने की शुरुआत है।
