मत्कार्मुकविसृष्टेन शरवर्षेण सागर ।
पारं तेऽद्य गमिष्यन्ति पद्भिरेव प्लवङ्गमाः ॥६-२२-३॥
matkārmukavisṛṣṭena śaravarṣeṇa sāgara |
pāraṃ te'dya gamiṣyanti padbhireva plavaṅgamāḥ ॥6-22-3॥
Translation
'O Ocean, by the shower of arrows released from my bow, the monkeys shall cross to your other shore on foot this very day.'
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे सागर! मेरे धनुष से छूटी हुई बाण-वर्षा से (तुम्हारे सूख जाने पर), आज वानर पैदल चलकर ही तुम्हारे पार चले जाएँगे।
English Commentary
The ultimate goal is utilitarian—the passage of the army. The phrase 'on foot' (padbhireva) juxtaposes the grandeur of the impassable ocean with the simplicity of walking, emphasizing Shri Rama's capability to render formidable obstacles insignificant. It serves as a stark warning: if the Ocean will not provide a way through cooperation, Shri Rama will carve a way through destruction.

श्री राम का उद्देश्य केवल सागर को दंड देना नहीं, बल्कि अपनी सेना को पार उतारना है। 'पद्भिरेव' (पैरों से ही) शब्द का प्रयोग अद्भुत है; जो समुद्र अगम्य और अथाह माना जाता है, उसे वे सामान्य भूमि बना देने का संकल्प लेते हैं। यह असंभव को संभव बनाने का संकल्प है। यहाँ श्री राम अपने 'प्रयोजन' (सीता की प्राप्ति) के प्रति अपनी एकाग्रता और दृढ़ता को प्रदर्शित कर रहे हैं।
