विचिन्वन्नाभिजानासि पौरुषं वापि विक्रमम् ।
दानवालय संतापं मत्तो नाम गमिष्यसि ॥६-२२-४॥
vicinvannābhijānāsi pauruṣaṃ vāpi vikramam |
dānavālaya saṃtāpaṃ matto nāma gamiṣyasi ॥6-22-4॥
Translation
'O Abode of Danavas, knowing well my prowess and valor, you still do not acknowledge it. Therefore, you shall indeed attain destruction at my hands.'
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे दानवों के निवास स्थान! तुम मेरे पौरुष और पराक्रम को जानकर भी नहीं पहचान रहे हो (अनजान बन रहे हो); अतः अब तुम मेरे द्वारा संताप (विनाश) को प्राप्त होगे।
English Commentary
Addressing the Ocean as the 'Abode of Demons' (Danavalaya) is significant. It implies that the Ocean is harboring chaotic and evil elements, which might explain its resistance to the divine mission. Shri Rama points out the hubris of the Ocean God—ignoring the power of the Supreme even whilst being aware of it. This willful negligence invites divine retribution.

श्री राम सागर को 'दानवालय' (दानवों का घर) कहकर संबोधित करते हैं, जो एक तिरस्कारपूर्ण संबोधन है। पौराणिक संदर्भ में, समुद्र मंथन से पहले और बाद में कई असुर समुद्र में छिपे थे। श्री राम यह इंगित कर रहे हैं कि सागर अधर्म (दानवों) को आश्रय देता है, इसलिए शायद वह धर्म (श्री राम) की उपेक्षा कर रहा है। अज्ञान क्षम्य हो सकता है, किन्तु जानबूझकर की गई अवहेलना दंडनीय है।
