YUDDHA KANDA•SARGA: 22•SHLOKA: 39
अवदारणशब्दश्च दारुणः समपद्यत ।
तस्मात्तद्बाणपातेन त्वपः कुक्षिष्वशोषयत् ॥६-२२-३९॥
avadāraṇaśabdaśca dāruṇaḥ samapadyata |
tasmāttadbāṇapātena tvapaḥ kukṣiṣvaśoṣayat ॥6-22-39॥
Translation
A terrifying sound of splitting occurred. By the fall of that arrow, the waters in the belly (of that region) were dried up.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वहां धरती फटने का भयानक शब्द हुआ। उस बाण के गिरने से उस स्थान की कोख (गर्भ) का पानी सूख गया।
English Commentary
The intense heat evaporated the moisture in the surrounding soil (kukshi - belly of the earth), rendering the region arid despite the central well. This completes the creation of the desert landscape.
हिंदी टीका
यद्यपि पाताल से पानी निकला, परन्तु आस-पास के क्षेत्र (कुक्षि) का सतही जल बाण की गर्मी से सूख गया, जिससे वह मरुभूमि बना। यह विरोधाभास है—एक जगह पानी का सोता फूटा, बाकी जगह सूखा पड़ा।
