निमित्तानि निमित्तज्ञो दृष्ट्वा लक्ष्मणपूर्वजः ।
सौमित्रिम् सम्परिष्वज्य इदम् वचनम्ब्रवीत् ॥६-२३-१॥
nimittāni nimittajño dṛṣṭvā lakṣmaṇapūrvajaḥ |
saumitriṃ saṃpariṣvajya idaṃ vacanamabravīt ॥6-23-1॥
Translation
Shri Rama, the elder brother of Lakshmana and a knower of omens, seeing the signs, embraced the son of Sumitra (Lakshmana) and spoke these words.
हिंदी अनुवाद
शकुन शास्त्र (निमित्त) के ज्ञाता, लक्ष्मण के बड़े भाई (श्री राम) ने अपशकुनों को देखकर, सुमित्रानंदन (लक्ष्मण) को गले लगाया और यह वचन कहा।
English Commentary
Shri Rama is described here as nimittajña, one who understands omens and signs. Seeing the celestial and terrestrial disturbances, he anticipates the gravity of the impending conflict. Embracing Lakshmana signifies his deep fraternal love and the need to offer comfort and solidarity before announcing the grim reality of the war that is about to unfold.

श्री राम केवल एक योद्धा ही नहीं, बल्कि 'निमित्तज्ञ' (शकुन शास्त्र के ज्ञाता) भी हैं। वे प्रकृति के संकेतों को पढ़कर भविष्य को भांप लेते हैं। लक्ष्मण को गले लगाना उनके भ्रातृ-प्रेम और आने वाले संकट के प्रति उनकी चिंता को दर्शाता है। वे अपने छोटे भाई को आश्वस्त कर रहे हैं, क्योंकि वे एक भीषण युद्ध की घोषणा करने वाले हैं।
