Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
इत्येवमुक्त्वा धन्वी स रामः सम्ग्रामधर्षणः ।
प्रतस्थे पुरतो रामो लङ्कामभिमुखो विभुः ॥६-२३-१४॥
ityevamuktvā dharmātmā dhanvī saṃgrāmaharṣaṇaḥ |
pratasthe purato rāmo laṅkāmabhimukho vibhuः ॥6-23-14॥
Translation
Saying this, the righteous soul, wielder of the bow, who delights in battle, the Lord (Shri Rama) set forth in front, facing Lanka.
हिंदी अनुवाद
ऐसा कहकर, धर्मात्मा, धनुर्धारी और युद्ध में हर्ष मानने वाले (उत्साही) प्रभु श्री राम लंका के अभिमुख होकर सबसे आगे चल पड़े।
English Commentary
Shri Rama is called Sangramaharshana (one who delights in battle). This indicates the warrior spirit (Kshatriya tejas)—finding joy in the righteous discharge of duty, even if it involves fighting. Leading from the front exemplifies his leadership and fearlessness.

श्री राम के लिए 'संग्रामहर्षण' (युद्ध में प्रसन्न होने वाले) विशेषण का प्रयोग हुआ है। यह रक्तपिपासा नहीं, बल्कि धर्म स्थापना के लिए अधर्म से लड़ने का उत्साह है। वे 'विभु' (समर्थ प्रभु) हैं और नेता की भांति सेना के 'पुरतः' (आगे) चलते हैं।
