लोकक्षयकरम् भीमम् भयम् पश्याम्युपस्थितम् ।
प्रबर्हणम् प्रवीराणामृक्षवानररक्षसाम् ॥६-२३-३॥
lokakṣayakaraṃ bhīmaṃ bhayaṃ paśyāmyupasthitam |
nibarhaṇaṃ pravīrāṇāmṛkṣavānararakṣasām ॥6-23-3॥
Translation
'I foresee a terrible danger approaching that will cause the destruction of the world. It will result in the slaughter of eminent heroes, bears, monkeys, and demons.'
हिंदी अनुवाद
'मैं देख रहा हूँ कि लोक का नाश करने वाला भयानक संकट उपस्थित है। (इसमें) प्रमुख वीरों, रीछों, वानरों और राक्षसों का विनाश होगा।'
English Commentary
Shri Rama, with his foresight, acknowledges the grim cost of war. He predicts lokakshaya (mass destruction) and nibarhanam (slaughter) of heroes on both sides. This reflects his awareness that the upcoming battle is not a mere skirmish but a cataclysmic event that will wipe out the finest warriors of the age.

श्री राम एक यथार्थवादी हैं। वे जानते हैं कि युद्ध का परिणाम केवल विजय नहीं, बल्कि 'लोकक्षय' (जनसंहार) भी है। वे स्पष्ट रूप से देख रहे हैं कि आने वाला संघर्ष दोनों पक्षों—वानर/रीछ और राक्षस—के वीर योद्धाओं के लिए विनाशकारी सिद्ध होगा। यह युद्ध की विभीषिका की पूर्व-घोषणा है।
