ऋक्षमुख्या महात्मानः कुक्षिं रक्षन्तु ते त्रयः ।
जघनं कपिसेनायाः कपिराजोऽभिरक्षतु ॥६-२४-१८॥
ṛkṣamukhyā mahātmānaḥ kukṣiṃ rakṣantu te trayaḥ |
jaghanaṃ kapisenāyāḥ kapirājo'bhirakṣatu ॥6-24-18॥
Translation
'Let those three great leaders of bears protect the belly (middle interior) of the army. Let the King of Monkeys (Sugriva) protect the rear (hips) of the monkey army.'
हिंदी अनुवाद
'वे तीनों महात्मा रीछ-मुख्य (जाम्बवान आदि) सेना के मध्य भाग (कुक्षि/पेट) की रक्षा करें। और कपिराज (सुग्रीव) वानर सेना के पिछले भाग (जघन) की रक्षा करें।'
English Commentary
Sugriva (the King) is placed in the 'Jaghana' (Rear Guard). This ensures the king's safety and allows him to oversee the entire formation, prevent desertion, and protect against rear ambushes. The bears are in the 'Kukshi' (middle) likely due to their strength and stability.

सुग्रीव (राजा) को 'जघन' (Rear Guard) में रखा गया है। यह राजा की सुरक्षा और पीछे से भागने वाले सैनिकों को रोकने या पीछे से होने वाले हमले से बचाने के लिए होता है। रीछों को 'कुक्षि' (मध्य) में रखा गया है क्योंकि वे धीमे लेकिन मजबूत योद्धा हैं।
