Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
आसेदुर्बानरा लङ्कां मिमर्दयिषवो रणे ।
शिखरैर्विकिरामैनां लङ्कां मुष्टिभिरेव वा ॥६-२४-२१॥
āsedurbānarā laṅkāṃ mimardayiṣavo raṇe |
śikharairvikirāmaināṃ laṅkāṃ muṣṭibhireva vā ॥6-24-21॥
Translation
Desiring to crush (the enemy) in battle, the monkeys approached Lanka. (Thinking,) 'We shall scatter this Lanka with mountain peaks or even with our fists alone.'
हिंदी अनुवाद
युद्ध में कुचल देने की इच्छा रखने वाले वानर लंका के पास पहुंचे। (वे सोच रहे थे) 'हम इस लंका को पर्वत शिखरों से या मुक्कों से ही बिखेर (नष्ट कर) देंगे।'
English Commentary
Notice the high morale and confidence of the Vanaras. They believe they can demolish Lanka just with their fists, implying they don't even need weapons. This desire to 'crush' (mimardayishava) highlights their aggressive stance.

वानरों का आत्मविश्वास (Overconfidence/High Morale) देखिए। उन्हें लगता है कि उन्हें हथियारों की भी जरूरत नहीं, वे अपने मुक्कों से ही लंका को ध्वस्त कर देंगे। यह 'मर्दन' (Crushing) की इच्छा उनके आक्रामक तेवर को दिखाती है।
