ततः शुश्रुवुराक्रुष्टं लङ्कायां काननौकसः ।
भेरीमृदङ्गसंघुष्टं तुमुलं रोमहर्षणम् ॥६-२४-३॥
tataḥ śuśruvurākruṣṭaṃ laṅkāyāṃ kānanaukasaḥ |
bherīmṛdaṅgasaṃghuṣṭaṃ tumulaṃ romaharṣaṇam ॥6-24-3॥
Translation
Then, the forest-dwelling monkeys heard a tumultuous and hair-raising sound in Lanka, a mix of kettle-drums and tabors.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तदनन्तर वन में रहने वाले वानरों ने लंका में भेरी और मृदंग की मिली-जुली, कोलाहलपूर्ण और रोंगटे खड़े कर देने वाली ध्वनि सुनी।
English Commentary
War preparations had begun in Lanka. The sounds of Bheris and Mridangas represent the martial rhythm of the Rakshasas. Described as 'hair-raising' (romaharshanam), this cacophony signaled the enemy's strength and aggression. The Vanaras heard this auditory challenge, marking the prelude to the battle.

लंका में युद्ध की तैयारियां शुरू हो चुकी थीं। भेरी और मृदंग युद्ध घोष के वाद्ययंत्र हैं। यह ध्वनि 'रोमहर्षण' (रोंगटे खड़े करने वाली) थी, जो शत्रु की शक्ति और आक्रामकता का संकेत थी। वानरों ने इस चुनौती को सुना, जो युद्ध के आरंभ का नाद था।
