तच्चास्य बलमादास्ये बलेन महता वृतः ।
ज्योतिषामिव सर्वेषां प्रभासुद्यन् दिवाकरः ॥६-२४-४२॥
taccāsya balamādāsye balena mahatā vṛtaḥ |
jyotiṣāmiva sarveṣāṃ prabhāsudyan divākaraḥ ॥6-24-42॥
Translation
'Surrounded by my great army, I shall absorb/eclipse the strength of his army, just as the rising sun absorbs the light of all the stars.'
हिंदी अनुवाद
'मैं अपनी विशाल सेना से घिरकर उसकी (श्री राम की) सेना के तेज को वैसे ही हर लूंगा, जैसे उदित होता हुआ सूर्य समस्त नक्षत्रों की प्रभा को हर लेता है।'
English Commentary
Ravana sees himself as the Sun eclipsing the stars (Shri Rama's army). It's a direct counter to the metaphor in Shloka 1. His delusion leads him to believe his rising power will outshine Shri Rama.
हिंदी टीका
रावण स्वयं को 'सूर्य' और श्री राम की सेना को 'नक्षत्र' मानता है। यह श्लोक 1 की उपमा (जहां श्री राम को चंद्रमा/सूर्य कहा गया था) का प्रतिवाद (Counter-argument) है। रावण का मानना है कि उसका उदय श्री राम के अंत का कारण बनेगा।
