यदि माम् अभियुन्जीरन् देव गन्धर्व दानवाः ।
न एव सीताम् प्रदास्यामि सर्व लोक भयाद् अपि ॥६-२६-२॥
yadi māmabhiyuñjīran devagandharvadānavāḥ |
naiva sītāṃ pradāsyāmi sarvalokabhayādapi ॥6-26-2॥
Translation
'Even if the gods, Gandharvas, and Danavas were to attack me together, and even out of fear of all the worlds, I will not give up Sita.'
हिंदी अनुवाद
'यदि देवता, गंधर्व और दानव (मिलकर) भी मुझ पर आक्रमण करें, और समस्त लोकों का भय भी उपस्थित हो जाए, तो भी मैं सीता को नहीं दूंगा।'
English Commentary
This is Ravana's obstinacy (Maha-hatha). He is steadfast in his destructive stubbornness. The phrase 'even out of fear of all worlds' marks the pinnacle of his ego. He has moved beyond both reason and fear.
हिंदी टीका
रावण का यह 'महा-हठ' (Obstinacy) है। वह अपनी विनाशकारी जिद्द पर अड़ा हुआ है। 'सर्वलोकभयादपि' (सारे लोकों के डर से भी) वाक्यांश उसके अहंकार की पराकाष्ठा है। वह तर्क और भय दोनों से परे हो चुका है।
