शतं कोटिसहस्राणां शङ्कु इत्यभिधीयते ।
शतं शङ्कुसहस्राणां महाशङ्कु इति स्मृतम् ॥६-२८-३४॥
śataṃ koṭisahasrāṇāṃ śaṅku ityabhidhīyate |
śataṃ śaṅkusahasrāṇāṃ mahāśaṅku iti smṛtam ॥6-28-34॥
Translation
A hundred thousand Kotis is called a Shanku. A hundred thousand Shankus is called a Mahashanku.
हिंदी अनुवाद
एक लाख करोड़ को 'शंकु' कहा जाता है। एक लाख शंकु को 'महाशंकु' कहा जाता है।
English Commentary
The counting begins. 'Shanku' and 'Mahashanku' represent colossal units in the ancient Indian numeral system. This enumeration is intended to portray the enemy force as being beyond human computation.
