एषां कोटिसहस्राणि नव पञ्च च सप्त च ।
तथा शङ्खसहस्राणि तथा वृन्दशतानि च ॥६-२८-४॥
eṣāṃ koṭisahasrāṇi nava pañca ca sapta ca |
tathā śaṅkhasahasrāṇi tathā vṛndaśatāni ca ॥6-28-4॥
Translation
Their numbers amount to twenty-one (nine, five, and seven) thousand Kotis (Crores); furthermore, there are thousands of Shankhas and hundreds of Vrindas.

इनकी संख्या इक्कीस (नौ, पांच और सात) हजार करोड़ है। इसके अतिरिक्त हजारों 'शंख' और सैकड़ों 'वृन्द' (प्राचीन संख्यात्मक मान) वानर यहाँ उपस्थित हैं।
English Commentary
The verse utilizes ancient Indian numeral systems—Koti, Shankha, and Vrinda—to quantify the Vanara army. This enumeration serves to impress upon Ravana the overwhelming magnitude of the force arrayed against him, suggesting an infinite ocean of warriors rather than a mere army.
