इतो गच्छत रामस्य व्यवसायं परीक्षथ ।
मन्त्रेष्वभ्यन्तरा येऽस्य प्रीत्या तेन समागताः ॥६-२९-२०॥
ito gacchata rāmasya vyavasāyaṃ parīkṣatha |
mantreṣvabhyantarā ye'sya prītyā tena samāgatāḥ ॥6-29-20॥
Translation
(Ravana said): Go from here and investigate Shri Rama's resolve/plans. Find out who are the insiders in his counsel and who have joined him out of affection.
हिंदी अनुवाद
(रावण ने कहा): यहाँ से जाओ और श्री राम के उद्योग (प्रयास/योजना) का पता लगाओ। और यह भी पता लगाओ कि कौन से लोग प्रेमपूर्वक उसके साथ मिले हैं और उसकी गुप्त मंत्रणाओं में शामिल रहते हैं।
English Commentary
Ravana directs them to intelligence gathering regarding Shri Rama's 'vyavasayam' (determination/strategy) and his inner circle ('mantreshu abhyantara'). He is particularly interested in the coalition dynamics—who is close to Shri Rama and why ('pritya' - out of affection). Knowing the inner circle is crucial for assassination plots or sowing discord (bheda), a standard tactic in ancient warfare.

रावण अब विशिष्ट 'इंटेलीजेंस' चाहता है। वह श्री राम के 'व्यवसायम्' (निश्चय/योजना) को जानना चाहता है। विशेष रूप से उसकी रुचि श्री राम की 'कोर टीम' (मंत्रणा में शामिल लोग) में है। 'प्रीत्या तेन समागताः' (प्रेम से जो मिले हैं) - यह वाक्यांश संभवतः विभीषण की ओर संकेत करता है, या यह जानने के लिए है कि कौन से राजा श्री राम के प्रति व्यक्तिगत निष्ठा रखते हैं। रावण शत्रु के आंतरिक घेरे को तोड़ना या समझना चाहता है।
