चारेण विदितः शत्रुः पण्डितैर्वसुधाधिपैः ।
युद्धे स्वल्पेन यत्नेन समासाद्य निरस्यते ॥६-२९-२२॥
cāreṇa viditaḥ śatruḥ paṇḍitairvasudhādhipaiḥ |
yuddhe svalpena yatnena samāsādya nirasyate ॥6-29-22॥
Translation
An enemy who is well-known through spies by wise kings can be encountered and defeated/expelled in battle with very little effort.

बुद्धिमान राजाओं द्वारा गुप्तचरों के माध्यम से भली-भांति जाना गया शत्रु, युद्ध में थोड़े से ही प्रयत्न से पकड़कर हराया (नष्ट किया) जा सकता है।
English Commentary
Ravana quotes a maxim of statecraft: intelligence is the key to efficient warfare. An enemy thoroughly profiled ('viditah') allows for a surgical victory with minimal effort ('svalpena yatnena'). This reflects the importance of the 'Eye of the King' (spies) in Sanskrit Rajniti texts like Arthashastra. Ravana is justifying the risk of sending spies again.

यहाँ रावण युद्ध-नीति का एक सार्वभौमिक सत्य बोल रहा है। सूचना ही शक्ति है। यदि शत्रु की कमजोरियां पता हों, तो 'स्वल्पेन यत्नेन' (थोड़े से प्रयास से) विजय प्राप्त की जा सकती है। यह श्लोक रावण की कूटनीतिक समझ को दर्शाता है, यद्यपि उसका अहंकार उसे इन सिद्धांतों का सही पालन करने से रोकता है। वह सिद्धांत जानता है, पर व्यवहार में चूक कर रहा है।
