विभीषणेन तत्रस्था निगृहीता यदृच्छया ।
शार्दूलो ग्राहितस्त्वेकः पापोऽयमिति राक्षसः ॥६-२९-२७॥
vibhīṣaṇena tatrasthā nigṛhītā yadṛcchayā |
śārdūlo grāhitastvekaḥ pāpo'yamiti rākṣasaḥ ॥6-29-27॥
Translation
Those spies present there were seized by Vibhishana effortlessly. However, Shardula alone was made to be captured (specifically), identified as 'This is the sinner/wicked Rakshasa'.

वहाँ स्थित उन राक्षसों को विभीषण ने अनायास ही पकड़ लिया। और 'यह पापी राक्षस है'—ऐसा कहकर केवल एक शार्दूल को पकड़वाया।
English Commentary
Vibhishana captures them with ease ('yadricchaya'). He singles out Shardula, labeling him 'papah' (sinful/wicked). This suggests Shardula had a reputation for cruelty or was a high-value target known to Vibhishana. By isolating the leader, Vibhishana effectively neutralizes the spy unit. This highlights the peril of spying on an army that has a defector from your own side.
