पुत्रा वैवस्वतस्यात्र पञ्च कालान्तकोपमाः ।
गजो गवाक्षो गवयः शरभो गन्धमादनः ॥६-३०-२६॥
putrā vaivasvatasyātra pañca kālāntakopamāḥ |
gajo gavākṣo gavayaḥ śarabho gandhamādanaḥ ॥6-30-26॥
Translation
Here are the five sons of Vaivasvata (Yama/Death), resembling the Death at the end of time: Gaja, Gavaksha, Gavaya, Sharabha, and Gandhamadana.
हिंदी अनुवाद
यहाँ यमराज (वैवस्वत) के पाँच पुत्र हैं जो प्रलयकाल के यम (काल-अंतक) के समान हैं—गज, गवाक्ष, गवय, शरभ और गन्धमादन।
English Commentary
Facing one son of Death is bad enough; Ravana faces five. These commanders act as the heavy infantry leaders. Describing them as resembling 'Death at the end of time' (Kalantaka) emphasizes the sheer destructive power they bring to the battlefield.
हिंदी टीका
मृत्यु के देवता यमराज के पाँच पुत्रों का युद्ध में होना रावण की सेना के लिए साक्षात् मृत्यु का संकेत है। उन्हें 'कालान्तकोपमाः' (प्रलयंकारी मृत्यु के समान) कहा गया है। गज, गवाक्ष आदि वानर सेनापतियों की यह टोली सामूहिक विनाश में सक्षम है।
