अभिद्रुतास्तु रक्षोभिः सिंहैरिव महाद्विपाः ।
सागरे पतिताः केचित्केचिद्गगनमाश्रिताः ॥६-३१-३४॥
abhidrutāstu rakṣobhiḥ siṃhairiva mahādvipāḥ |
sāgare patitāḥ kecitkecidgaganamāśritāḥ ॥6-31-34॥
Translation
'Chased by Rakshasas like elephants by lions, some fell into the ocean, while others took to the sky.'
हिंदी अनुवाद
जैसे सिंहों द्वारा हाथी खदेड़े जाते हैं, वैसे ही राक्षसों द्वारा खदेड़े जाने पर कुछ वानर समुद्र में गिर पड़े और कुछ आकाश में उड़ गए (शरण लेने के लिए)।
English Commentary
Ravana reverses the usual metaphors, calling his Rakshasas lions and the Vanaras elephants. The image of monkeys falling into the ocean or fleeing to the sky emphasizes panic and chaos.

राक्षसों को सिंह और वानरों को हाथी बताकर रावण शक्ति संतुलन को अपने पक्ष में दिखाता है। वानरों का समुद्र में गिरना या आकाश में भागना उनकी हताशा और बचने की कोई जगह न होने को दर्शाता है।
