विद्युज्जिह्वं च मायाज्ञमब्रवीद्राक्षसाधिपः ।
मोहयिष्यावहे सीतां मायया जनकात्मजाम् ॥६-३१-७॥
vidyujjihvaṃ ca māyājñamabravīdrākṣasādhipaḥ |
mohayiṣyāvahe sītāṃ māyayā janakātmajām ॥6-31-7॥
Translation
The King of Rakshasas spoke to Vidyujjihva, the knower of illusions: 'Let us both delude Sita, the daughter of Janaka, using illusion.'
हिंदी अनुवाद
राक्षसराज ने माया जानने वाले विद्युज्जिह्व से कहा—'हम दोनों माया के द्वारा जनकनन्दिनी सीता को मोहित (भ्रमित) करेंगे।
English Commentary
Ravana explicitly states his intent to deceive ('mohayishyavahe'). He partners with Vidyujjihva to orchestrate a cruel hoax. This reveals Ravana's desperation; unable to win Sita's heart through power or wealth, he resorts to breaking her spirit by fabricating the death of her beloved husband.

यहाँ रावण अपनी नीचता के निम्नतम स्तर पर है। वह स्पष्ट रूप से 'मोहयिष्यावहे' (हम मोहित करेंगे/ठगेंगे) कह रहा है। उसका उद्देश्य सीता को यह विश्वास दिलाना है कि उसका सब कुछ लुट चुका है ताकि वह विवश होकर रावण को स्वीकार कर ले। यह काम और भय का मिश्रण है।
