साधु पातय मां क्षिप्रं रामस्योपरि रावण ।
समानय पतिं पत्न्या कुरु कल्याणमुत्तमम् ॥६-३२-३१॥
sādhu pātaya māṃ kṣipraṃ rāmasyopari rāvaṇa |
samānaya patiṃ patnyā kuru kalyāṇamuttamam ॥6-32-31॥
Translation
'O Ravana! Virtuously/Kindly strike me down quickly upon Shri Rama. Unite the wife with the husband; do this supreme act of merit.'
हिंदी अनुवाद
'हे रावण! तुम मुझे शीघ्र श्री राम के ऊपर मार डालो (गिरा दो)। पत्नी को पति से मिला दो और यह उत्तम कल्याणकारी कार्य करो।'
English Commentary
Despair turns to a plea for death. Sita begs Ravana to kill her (pataya - cause to fall/kill) on top of Shri Rama. She frames this execution as an act of kalyanam (merit/goodness) because it would unite husband and wife (samanaya patim patnya). She sees no life without Shri Rama, so death by the enemy's hand is preferable to separation.

शोक की चरम सीमा पर सीता अपने शत्रु रावण से ही 'कल्याण' की भीख मांगती हैं। वह चाहती हैं कि रावण उन्हें मारकर श्री राम के शव के ऊपर गिरा दे। मृत्यु अब भय नहीं, बल्कि 'उत्तम कल्याण' और मिलन का साधन बन गई है। वह रावण को 'साधु' (भले ही व्यंग्य में हो या याचना में) संबोधित करती हैं ताकि वह यह अंतिम इच्छा पूरी करे।
