Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
एतच्छ्रुत्वा दशग्रीवो राक्षसप्रतिवेदितम् ।
अशोकवनिकां त्यक्त्वा मन्त्रिणां दर्शनं ययौ ॥६-३२-३८॥
etacchrutvā daśagrīvo rākṣasaprativeditam |
aśokavanikāṃ tyaktvā mantriṇāṃ darśanaṃ yayau ॥6-32-38॥
Translation
Hearing this report from the Rakshasa, the Ten-necked One (Ravana) left the Ashoka Vanika and went to see the ministers.
हिंदी अनुवाद
राक्षस (दूत) का यह निवेदन सुनकर, दशग्रीव (रावण) अशोक वाटिका को छोड़कर मंत्रियों से मिलने चला गया।
English Commentary
Ravana heeds the call. He leaves Ashoka Vanika. His departure marks the breaking of the spell. It shows that despite his madness for Sita, the threat to his kingdom (and his life) from Shri Rama's army still commands his attention. The title Dashagriva emphasizes his power and perhaps his split attention.
हिंदी टीका
रावण ने प्राथमिकता समझी। वह सीता को वहीं छोड़कर चला गया। यह 'त्याग' (छोड़ना) सीता के लिए वरदान सिद्ध हुआ क्योंकि रावण के जाते ही माया का प्रभाव समाप्त होने वाला था। रावण का जाना उसके राजा होने के दायित्व को उसके प्रेमी/कामुक रूप पर हावी दिखाता है।
