Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अविदूरस्थितान् सर्वान् बलाध्यक्षान् हितैषिणः ।
अब्रवीत्कालसदृशं रावणो राक्षसाधिपः ॥६-३२-४२॥
avidūrasthitān sarvān balādhyakṣān hitaiṣiṇaḥ |
abravītkālasadṛśaṃ rāvaṇo rākṣasādhipaḥ ॥6-32-42॥
Translation
The Lord of Rakshasas, Ravana, spoke words befitting the time/death to all his well-wishing army commanders standing nearby.
हिंदी अनुवाद
राक्षसाधिपति रावण ने अपने पास ही स्थित (अविदूरस्थित) सभी हितैषी सेनापतियों (बलाध्यक्षों) से, काल (मृत्यु/समय) के अनुरूप वचन कहे।
English Commentary
Ravana addresses his top brass. His words are kalasadrisham—ambiguously meaning either 'appropriate for the occasion' or 'resembling Death/Time'. Given the context, it implies orders that will unleash death and destruction. He is mobilizing his forces for the final showdown.
हिंदी टीका
रावण अपने जनरलों (बलाध्यक्षों) को आदेश देता है। उसके वचन 'कालसदृशम्' (काल के समान या समयोचित) हैं। इसका अर्थ यह भी हो सकता है कि उसकी बातें विनाशकारी (मृत्यु जैसी) थीं या फिर संकट की घड़ी के अनुकूल गंभीर थीं। उसके सेनापति उसके 'हितैषी' हैं, अर्थात् वे वफादार हैं।
