सा मुहूर्तात्समाश्वस्य प्रतिलभ्य च चेतनाम् ।
तच्छिरः समुपाघ्राय विललापायतेक्षणा ॥६-३२-७॥
sā muhūrtātsamāśvasya pratilabhya ca cetanām |
tacchiraḥ samupāghrāya vilalāpāyatekṣaṇā ॥6-32-7॥
Translation
Recovering after a while and regaining consciousness, that large-eyed lady smelt/kissed that head and began to lament.

कुछ समय (मुहूर्त) बाद आश्वस्त होकर और चेतना प्राप्त करके, उन विशाल नेत्रों वाली सीता ने उस (कटे हुए) सिर को सूंघकर विलाप करना आरम्भ किया।
English Commentary
Regaining consciousness, Sita interacts with the illusion. The act samupaghraya (smelling/kissing the head) is a traditional gesture of deep affection and intimacy in ancient texts. The epithet ayatekshana (large-eyed) serves as a poignant reminder of her beauty, which is now marred by tragic tears. It is a heartbreaking scene of a wife mourning over what she believes is her husband's remains.

चेतना लौटने पर सीता उस मस्तक के पास गईं। 'समुपाघ्राय' (सूंघकर/चूमकर) शब्द भारतीय संस्कृति में गहरे स्नेह और वात्सल्य या प्रेम का सूचक है (सिर सूंघना मस्तक चूमने के समान है)। 'आयतेक्षणा' (विशाल नेत्रों वाली) विशेषण यहाँ करुण रस को बढ़ाता है—वे सुंदर नेत्र अब केवल आँसू बहा रहे हैं।
