Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
न त्वेव वानरा हन्तुं शक्याः पादपयोधिनः ।
सुरा देवर्षभेणेव रामेण हि सुरक्षिताः ॥६-३३-१०॥
na tveva vānarā hantuṃ śakyāḥ pādayodhinaḥ |
surā devarṣabheṇeva rāmeṇa hi surakṣitāḥ ॥6-33-10॥
Translation
'Nor is it possible to kill the monkeys who fight with trees, for they are well-protected by Shri Rama, just as the gods are protected by the Lord of Gods (Indra).'
हिंदी अनुवाद
'और वृक्षों से युद्ध करने वाले वानरों को मारना भी संभव नहीं है, क्योंकि वे श्री राम के द्वारा वैसे ही सुरक्षित हैं जैसे देवताओं के स्वामी (इन्द्र) द्वारा देवता सुरक्षित रहते हैं।'
English Commentary
Sarama links the safety of the Vanara army to Shri Rama's leadership. Just as gods are safe under Indra, the monkeys are 'surakṣitāḥ' (well-protected) by Shri Rama. This analogy establishes Shri Rama's divinity and command, refuting Ravana's claim that the entire army was annihilated.

सरमा वानर सेना की सुरक्षा को श्री राम के नेतृत्व से जोड़ती है। जैसे इंद्र के रहते देवताओं को असुर नहीं मार सकते, वैसे ही 'श्री रामेण सुरक्षिताः' (श्री राम द्वारा सुरक्षित) वानरों का संहार असंभव है। यह उपमा श्री राम के देवत्व और नेतृत्व क्षमता को स्थापित करती है और रावण के उस दावे का खंडन करती है कि पूरी सेना नष्ट हो गई।
