Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अयुक्तबुद्धिकृत्येन सर्वभूतविरोधिना ।
इयं प्रयुक्ता रौद्रेण माया मायाविदा त्वयि ॥६-३३-१४॥
ayuktabuddhikṛtyena sarvabhūtavirodhinā |
iyaṃ prayuktā raudreṇa māyā māyāvidā tvayi ॥6-33-14॥
Translation
'This illusion was employed against you by the terrible (Ravana), a master of illusion, who acts with a perverted mind and is the enemy of all beings.'
हिंदी अनुवाद
'अनुचित बुद्धि से कार्य करने वाले, सभी प्राणियों के विरोधी, और भयानक (रावण) जो मायावी है, उसने तुम्हारे प्रति इस माया (छल) का प्रयोग किया था।'
English Commentary
Sarama reveals the secret behind the 'severed head'. She describes Ravana as one with a warped mind ('ayuktabuddhi') and an enemy of all beings. Confirming that it was 'māyā' (illusion) explains the horrific sight Sita witnessed, reassuring her that it was a magical fabrication, not reality.

सरमा अब उस 'कटे सिर' का रहस्य खोलती है। वह रावण को 'अयुक्तबुद्धिकृत्येन' (जिसकी बुद्धि और कार्य भ्रष्ट हैं) और 'सर्वभूतविरोधिना' (सबका शत्रु) कहती है। यह माया का प्रयोग था। यह जानकर सीता को समझ आ जाता है कि जो उन्होंने देखा वह जादू था, वास्तविकता नहीं।
