अथ तां जातसंतापां तेन वाक्येन मोहिताम् ।
सरमा ह्लादयामास पृथिवीं द्यौरिवाम्भसा ॥६-३४-१॥
atha tāṃ jātasaṃtāpāṃ tena vākyena mohitām |
saramā hlādayāmāsa pṛthivīṃ dyaurivāmbhasā ॥6-34-1॥
Translation
Then, Sarama gladdened/comforted Sita, who was burning with grief and deluded by those words (of Ravana), just as the sky comforts the parched earth with rain.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तदनन्तर, (रावण के उस मायावी) वचन से मोहित और संताप (दुख) से ग्रस्त उस सीता को, सरमा ने उसी प्रकार आह्लादित (प्रसन्न/शांत) किया, जैसे आकाश (बादलों) से गिरते हुए जल से पृथ्वी को तृप्त करता है।
English Commentary
After the psychological trauma inflicted by Ravana's illusion, Sarama enters as a beacon of hope. Valmiki uses a profound metaphor: Sita, the daughter of the Earth, is parched by the heat of grief. Sarama's comforting words are likened to the sky (dyauh) showering rain (ambhasa) upon the scorched earth. This imagery emphasizes the restorative power of truth and friendship in the midst of despair.

पिछले सर्ग में रावण ने मायावी सिर दिखाकर सीता को तोड़ दिया था। यहाँ सरमा का प्रवेश आशा की किरण बनकर होता है। वाल्मीकि जी ने अत्यंत सुंदर उपमा दी है—सीता 'पृथ्वी' (धरती की पुत्री) हैं और उनका शोक ग्रीष्म की तपन जैसा है। सरमा के सत्य वचन 'अम्भस' (वर्षा के जल) के समान हैं जो उस तपन को शांत करते हैं। यह श्लोक एक सखी के महत्त्व को दर्शाता है जो दुख की घड़ी में शीतलता प्रदान करती है।
