स हि मायाबलः क्रूरो रावणः शत्रुरावणः ।
मां मोहयति दुष्टात्मा पीतमात्रेव वारुणी ॥६-३४-८॥
sa hi māyābalaḥ krūro rāvaṇaḥ śatrurāvaṇaḥ |
māṃ mohayati duṣṭātmā pītamātreva vāruṇī ॥6-34-8॥
Translation
'For that Ravana, who makes enemies cry, possessed of magical powers and cruel, that evil-souled one confuses/deludes me just as wine (Varuni) does the moment it is drunk.'
हिंदी अनुवाद
'वह शत्रुओं को रुलाने वाला (शत्रुरावणः), मायावी बल वाला और क्रूर रावण, उस दुष्टात्मा ने मुझे उसी प्रकार मोहित (भ्रमित) कर दिया है जैसे पीते ही मदिरा (वारुणी) मोहित कर देती है।'
English Commentary
Sita vividly describes the effect of Ravana's psychological warfare. She compares his Maya to Varuni (strong liquor)—it acts instantly (pitamatreva) to cloud judgment and induce moha (delusion). Recognizing this vulnerability is why she seeks external verification of facts from Sarama.
हिंदी टीका
सीता अपनी मानसिक स्थिति का वर्णन करती हैं। रावण की माया ने उन्हें 'वारुणी' (शराब) की तरह नशा/भ्रम में डाल दिया है। रावण का विशेषण 'शत्रुरावणः' (शत्रुओं को रुलाने वाला) उसके प्रभाव को दर्शाता है। सीता स्वीकार करती हैं कि वह माया के प्रभाव में विवेक खो बैठती हैं, इसलिए उन्हें सत्य (Intelligence) की आवश्यकता है।
