तेन शङ्खविमिश्रेण भेरीशब्देन नादिना ।
उपयाति महाबाहु रामः परपुरंजयः ॥६-३५-१॥
tena śaṅkhavimiśreṇa bherīśabdena nādinā |
upayāti mahābāhu rāmaḥ parapuraṃjayaḥ ॥6-35-1॥
Translation
Accompanied by the resonant sound of kettle-drums mixed with the blowing of conches, the mighty-armed Shri Rama, the conqueror of enemy cities, is advancing.
हिंदी अनुवाद
शंख की ध्वनि से मिश्रित, गूंजती हुई उस भेरी की आवाज के साथ, शत्रुओं के नगरों को जीतने वाले (परपुरंजय) महाबाहु श्री राम (युद्ध के लिए) आगे बढ़ रहे हैं।
English Commentary
The sarga opens with the martial sounds of conches and drums, signaling the inevitable clash. The epithet 'parapuraṃjayaḥ' (conqueror of enemy cities) establishes Shri Rama's capability to breach Lanka's defenses. The mixture of shankha (conch) and bheri (drum) creates a terrifying symphony for the Rakshasas, indicating that the aggressor is at the gates and the time for diplomacy is rapidly fading.

इस सर्ग का आरंभ युद्ध के शंखनाद से होता है। 'परपुरंजयः' (शत्रु के नगरों को जीतने वाला) विशेषण श्री राम की विजय निश्चित करता है। शंख और भेरी का मिश्रित स्वर युद्धघोष है जो राक्षसों के हृदय में भय उत्पन्न करने वाला है। माल्यवान (रावण का नाना) इस ध्वनि को सुनकर स्थिति की गंभीरता को समझ रहा है कि अब शांति का समय बीत चुका है और आक्रामक शक्ति लंका के द्वार पर है।
