Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
सुराणामसुराणां च धर्माधर्मौ तदाश्रयौ ।
धर्मो हि श्रूयते पक्षो ह्यमराणां महात्मनाम् ॥६-३५-१३॥
surāṇāmasurāṇāṃ ca dharmādharmau tadāśrayau |
dharmo hi śrūyate pakṣo hyamarāṇāṃ mahātmanām ॥6-35-13॥
Translation
'(The two sides are) of the Suras (gods) and Asuras (demons), which are the abodes of Dharma (righteousness) and Adharma (unrighteousness). The side of the great-souled gods is indeed known to be Dharma.'
हिंदी अनुवाद
'देवताओं और असुरों के (ये दो पक्ष हैं), धर्म और अधर्म जिनके आश्रय हैं। सुना जाता है कि महात्मा देवताओं का पक्ष धर्म है।'
English Commentary
A clear dichotomy is drawn: Suras represent 'Dharma' and Asuras represent 'Adharma'. Malyavan candidly admits that while they are Rakshasas/Asuras, their nature leans towards unrighteousness, whereas Shri Rama represents the righteous side of the gods. Implicit is the maxim: 'Where there is Dharma, there is Victory'.

यहाँ स्पष्ट विभाजन है: देवता 'धर्म' का प्रतिनिधित्व करते हैं और असुर 'अधर्म' का। माल्यवान स्वीकार करता है कि यद्यपि वे राक्षस हैं, परंतु उनका पक्ष (असुर पक्ष) स्वभावतः अधर्म की ओर झुकता है, जबकि श्री राम (जो देवताओं के प्रतिनिधि हैं) धर्म के पक्षधर हैं। और अंततः 'यतो धर्मस्ततो जयः'।
