विवर्धयति पक्षं च सुराणां सुरभावनः ।
विषयेषु प्रसक्तेन यत्किंचित्कारिणा त्वया ॥६-३५-१७॥
vivardhayati pakṣaṃ ca surāṇāṃ surabhāvanaḥ |
viṣayeṣu prasaktena yatkiṃcitkāriṇā tvayā ॥6-35-17॥
Translation
'And (that Adharma/Supreme Power) strengthens the side of the gods. By you, who are addicted to sense-objects and act arbitrarily...'
हिंदी अनुवाद
'और (वह अधर्म) देवताओं के पक्ष को बढ़ा रहा है, (क्योंकि) तुम विषयों (भोग-विलास) में आसक्त हो और मनमाना (यत्किंचित्) आचरण करने वाले हो।' (विष्णु/धर्म ही देवताओं को बढ़ा रहा है)।
English Commentary
Ravana is labeled as 'viṣayeṣu prasaktena' (addicted to pleasures) and 'yatkiṃcitkāriṇā' (acting recklessly/arbitrarily). Malyavan argues that such behavior ironically strengthens the divine side, as the excess of Adharma invites the inevitable counter-force of Dharma to restore balance.

रावण 'विषयेषु प्रसक्तेन' (भोगों में फंसा हुआ) है और 'यत्किंचित्कारिणा' (बिना सोचे-समझे/अंखाधुंध कार्य करने वाला) है। ऐसे आचरण से वह अनजाने में देवताओं के पक्ष को ही मजबूत कर रहा है, क्योंकि अधर्म की अति ही अवतार और धर्म-स्थापना का कारण बनती है।
