नानाप्रहरणैः शूरैरावृतो रावणात्मजः ।
राक्षसानां सहस्रैस्तु बहुभिः शस्त्रपाणिभिः ॥६-३७-१२॥
nānāpraharaṇaiḥ śūrairāvṛto rāvaṇātmajaḥ |
rākṣasānāṃ sahasraistu bahubhiḥ śastrapāṇibhi ॥6-37-12॥
Translation
That son of Ravana (Indrajit) is surrounded by thousands of heroic Rakshasas who are experts in using various weapons and hold them in their hands.

विविध प्रकार के अस्त्र-शस्त्रों को चलाने वाले उन शूरवीरों और शस्त्रधारी हजारों राक्षसों से वह रावण-पुत्र (इन्द्रजित) घिरा हुआ है।
English Commentary
This verse further details the military strength commanded by Indrajit. The emphasis on 'Sahasraistu bahubhih' (many thousands) and their proficiency in diverse weaponry underscores the scale of the impending conflict. Indrajit’s presence at the gate with such a vast force indicates that this path to the city would be one of the most contested.

इन्द्रजित की सेना केवल संख्या में ही बड़ी नहीं थी, बल्कि वे 'शूर' (वीर) और 'शस्त्रपाणि' (शस्त्रों के संचालन में दक्ष) भी थे। यह श्लोक इन्द्रजित की सैन्य शक्ति के विस्तार को प्रकट करता है। श्री राम के लिए इन्द्रजित सबसे बड़ी बाधा होने वाला था, क्योंकि वह युद्ध में माया का भी प्रयोग करता था। विभीषण की यह सूचना श्री राम को इन्द्रजित के विरुद्ध विशेष तैयारी करने के लिए प्रेरित करती है।
