युक्तः परमसंविग्नो राक्षस्र्बहुभिर्वृतः ।
उत्तरं नगरद्वारं रावणः स्वयमाश्रितः ॥६-३७-१३॥
yuktaḥ paramasaṃvigno rākṣasrbahubhirvṛtaḥ |
uttaraṃ nagaradvāraṃ rāvaṇaḥ svayamāśritaḥ ॥6-37-13॥
Translation
Fully prepared and highly vigilant, surrounded by many Rakshasas, Ravana himself has taken his position at the northern gate of the city.
हिंदी अनुवाद
अत्यंत उद्यत और सावधान होकर, अनेक राक्षसों से घिरे हुए स्वयं रावण ने नगर के उत्तर द्वार का आश्रय लिया है।
English Commentary
Ravana’s personal presence at the northern gate is a significant tactical detail. It shows that the king himself is leading from the front, reflecting both his arrogance and his high state of alertness ('Paramasamvignah'). For Shri Rama, knowing the exact location of the enemy leader is crucial for the final objective of the war—the elimination of Ravana.

रावण का स्वयं उत्तर द्वार पर होना उसकी युद्ध के प्रति गंभीरता को दर्शाता है। उत्तर दिशा को अक्सर विजय और मुख्य संचालन का केंद्र माना जाता है। रावण का 'स्वयमाश्रितः' होना यह बताता है कि वह अपने शत्रुओं का सामना स्वयं करने के लिए उत्सुक और सतर्क है। यह श्री राम के लिए सीधा निमंत्रण है, क्योंकि श्री राम भी प्रायः मुख्य आक्रमण का नेतृत्व करते हैं।
