एषा भवतु संज्ञा नो युद्धेऽस्मिन् वानरे बले ।
वानरा एव नश्चिह्नं स्वजनेऽस्मिन् भविष्यति ॥६-३७-३४॥
eṣā bhavatu saṃjñā no yuddhe'smin vānare bale |
vānarā eva naścihnaṃ svajane'smin bhaviṣyati ॥6-37-34॥
Translation
Let this be our sign of recognition in this war for the Vanara army. The 'monkey form' itself will be the mark for identifying our own people.
हिंदी अनुवाद
इस युद्ध में हमारी वानर सेना के लिए यही संकेत (पहचान) होनी चाहिए। अपने लोगों को पहचानने के लिए 'वानर रूप' ही हमारा चिह्न होगा।
English Commentary
Clarity in identification is paramount in large-scale warfare. Shri Rama establishes the Vanara form as the official 'uniform' or insignia of His forces. By using the word 'Svajane' (our own people), He reinforces a sense of belonging and unity among the troops, ensuring that chaos does not lead to internal casualties during the heat of the assault.
