Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
सुवेलारोहणे बुद्धिं चकार मतिमान् मतिम् ।
रमणीयं तरं दृष्ट्वा सुवेलस्य गिरेस्तटम् ॥६-३७-३७॥
suvelārohaṇe buddhiṃ cakāra matimān matim |
ramaṇīyaṃ taraṃ dṛṣṭvā suvelasya girestaṭam ॥6-37-37॥
Translation
The wise Shri Rama, observing the very beautiful slopes of Mount Suvela, made up His mind to ascend it.
हिंदी अनुवाद
बुद्धिमान श्री राम ने सुवेल पर्वत के अत्यंत सुंदर तट को देखकर उस पर चढ़ने का विचार (निश्चय) किया।
English Commentary
Mount Suvela serves as a strategic vantage point. By deciding to ascend it, the 'Matiman' (wise) Shri Rama displays essential military leadership—securing high ground for better observation of the enemy's city. The appreciation of the mountain's beauty even on the eve of war reflects the poise and aesthetic sensibility of the Divine Archer.
हिंदी टीका
सुवेल पर्वत लंका के समीप एक ऊँचा स्थान था जहाँ से पूरी नगरी का अवलोकन किया जा सकता था। श्री राम का उस पर चढ़ने का निर्णय उनकी 'मतिमान' (बुद्धिमान) प्रकृति को दर्शाता है। एक अच्छे सेनापति को युद्ध भूमि का ऊँचाई से निरीक्षण करना चाहिए। पर्वत की सुंदरता का वर्णन यह भी बताता है कि प्रकृति भी मर्यादा पुरुषोत्तम श्री राम का स्वागत कर रही है।
