तथा तेषु ब्रुवाणेषु रावणावरजोऽब्रवीत् ।
वाक्यमग्राम्यपदवत्पुष्कलार्थं विभीषणः ॥६-३७-६॥
tathā teṣu bruvāṇeṣu rāvaṇāvarajo'bravīt |
vākyamagrāmyapadavatpuṣkalārthaṃ vibhīṣaṇaḥ ॥6-37-6॥
Translation
While they were thus speaking, Vibhishana, the younger brother of Ravana, spoke words that were refined in expression and profound in meaning.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जब वे सब इस प्रकार बातें कर रहे थे, तब रावण के अनुज विभीषण ने शिष्ट शब्दों से युक्त और गम्भीर अर्थ वाले ये वचन कहे।
English Commentary
Vibhishana is portrayed as a man of great intellect and culture. His speech is described as 'Agramya' (not vulgar, refined) and 'Pushkalartham' (meaningful). Despite his origins, his character is noble. This verse serves as a preamble to the vital intelligence he is about to provide to Shri Rama, demonstrating his complete transparency and commitment to the side of Dharma.

विभीषण की वाणी को 'अग्श्री राम्य' (शिष्ट/सभ्य) और 'पुष्कलार्थ' (पूर्ण अर्थ वाली) कहा गया है। यह उनके उच्च चरित्र और विद्वत्ता का परिचायक है। यद्यपि वे एक राक्षस कुल में जन्मे थे, किंतु उनकी बुद्धि सात्विक थी। यहाँ विभीषण अपनी गुप्तचर सूचनाओं के आधार पर श्री राम को लंका की वास्तविक सैन्य स्थिति बताने जा रहे हैं, जो विजय के लिए अनिवार्य है।
