लङ्कां चालोकयिष्यामो निलये तस्य रक्षसः ।
येन मे मरणान्ताय हृता भार्या दुरात्मना ॥६-३८-४॥
laṅkāṃ cālokayiṣyāmo nilaye tasya rakṣasaḥ |
yena me maraṇāntāya hṛtā bhāryā durātmanā ॥6-38-4॥
Translation
'(From here) we shall view Lanka, the abode of that Rakshasa, the evil-minded one by whom my wife was stolen for his own destruction.'
हिंदी अनुवाद
'(यहाँ से) हम उस राक्षस (रावण) के निवास स्थान लंका को देखेंगे, जिस दुरात्मा ने अपनी मृत्यु के लिए ही मेरी पत्नी का अपहरण किया है।'
English Commentary
The phrase 'maraṇāntāya' (leading to death/end) is profound. Shri Rama clarifies that the abduction of Sita by Ravana was not just a crime, but an invitation for his own destruction. Shri Rama's objective is not merely the recovery of Sita, but the eradication of Adharma. He desires to survey the enemy citadel with his own eyes.

यहाँ 'मरनान्ताय' (मृत्यु है अंत जिसका) शब्द बहुत वजनदार है। श्री राम स्पष्ट करते हैं कि रावण द्वारा सीता का हरण केवल एक अपराध नहीं था, बल्कि रावण के स्वयं के विनाश का आमंत्रण था। श्री राम का उद्देश्य केवल सीता की वापसी नहीं, बल्कि अधर्म का नाश है। वे शत्रु के गढ़ को अपनी आँखों से देखना चाहते हैं।
