Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अन्ये तु हरिवीराणां यूथान्निष्क्रम्य यूथपाः ।
सुग्रीवेणाभ्यनुज्ञाता लङ्कां जग्मुः पताकिनीम् ॥६-३९-१४॥
anye tu harivīrāṇāṃ yūthānniṣkramya yūthapāḥ |
sugrīveṇābhyanujñātā laṅkāṃ jagmuḥ patākinīm ॥6-39-14॥
Translation
Other monkey leaders, separating from their troops, and permitted by Sugriva, marched towards Lanka which was adorned with flags.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वानर वीरों के अन्य सेनापति (यूथपाः) अपनी टोलियों (यूथ) से निकलकर, सुग्रीव की आज्ञा पाकर, पताकाओं से सुसज्जित लंका की ओर बढ़े।
English Commentary
Strategic movement begins. The leaders (yuthapah) advance towards the city proper under Sugriva's orders. Lanka is described as patakinim (bannered/flagged), signifying it is a fortified city ready for war. The transition from the gardens to the flagged ramparts marks the shift from observation to confrontation.

अनुशासन का दृश्य। सुग्रीव की अनुमति ('अभ्यनुज्ञाता') के बाद ही कमांडरों ने आगे कूच किया। लंका को 'पताकिनीम्' (ध्वजाओं वाली) कहा गया है, जो उसके किलेबंद और युद्ध-सज्जित होने का संकेत है। अब वे वनों से निकलकर मुख्य नगर की ओर बढ़ रहे हैं।
