कुर्वन्तस्ते महावेगा महीं चरणपीडिताम् ।
रजश्च सहसवोर्ध्वं जगाम चरणोत्थितम् ॥६-३९-१६॥
kurvantaste mahāvegā mahīṃ caraṇapīḍitām |
rajaśca sahasavordhvaṃ jagāma caraṇotthitam ॥6-39-16॥
Translation
Those monkeys of great speed trampled the earth with their feet, and the dust raised by their feet suddenly rose upwards.
हिंदी अनुवाद
महान वेग वाले वे वानर अपने चरणों से पृथ्वी को पीड़ित (दबाते) कर रहे थे, और उनके चरणों से उठी हुई धूल सहसा ऊपर आकाश में छा गई।
English Commentary
The kinetic energy of the army is palpable. Their marching feet 'torment' (piditam) the earth. The resulting dust cloud (rajah) rising suddenly obscures the sky, symbolizing the fog of war and the overwhelming numbers of the attacking force.

सेना के कूच से धरती कांपती है और धूल का गुबार उठता है। 'चरणपीडिताम्' (पैरों से कुचली गई) पृथ्वी और 'रजः' (धूल) का आकाश में छाना एक विशाल सेना के आगमन का क्लासिक वर्णन है।
