Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
शतयोजनविस्तीर्णं विमलं चारुदर्शनम् ।
श्लक्ष्णं श्रीमन्महच्चैव दुष्प्रापं शकुनैरपि ॥६-३९-१९॥
śatayojanavistīrṇaṃ vimalaṃ cārudarśanam |
ślakṣṇaṃ śrīmanmahaccaiva duṣprāpaṃ śakunairapi ॥6-39-19॥
Translation
That peak was a hundred yojanas wide, spotless, beautiful to look at, smooth, glorious, and huge; it was difficult to reach even for birds.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वह (शिखर) सौ योजन विस्तृत, निर्मल, देखने में सुंदर, चिकना (श्लक्ष्ण), श्रीमान (शोभायमान) और महान था। वहाँ पक्षियों का भी पहुँचना कठिन (दुष्प्रापम्) था।
English Commentary
The peak is described as a fortress of nature. Its dimensions are immense (100 yojanas). Its surface is shlakshnam (smooth/sheer), making it unclimbable. The phrase 'difficult to reach even for birds' highlights its impregnability. It sets the stage for the challenge Shri Rama faces in breaching such a stronghold.

पर्वत की भव्यता और दुर्गमता का वर्णन। 'सौ योजन' विस्तार उसकी विशालता बताता है। 'श्लक्ष्णम्' (चिकना/खड़ी ढाल वाला) होने के कारण वह चढ़ने में असंभव था। 'शकुनैरपि दुष्प्रापम्' (पक्षियों के लिए भी मुश्किल) मुहावरा उसकी अभेद्यता को सिद्ध करता है।
