हसन्तमिव फेनौघैर्नृत्यन्तमिव चोर्मिभिः ।
चन्द्रोदयसमुद्भूतं प्रतिचन्द्रसमाकुलम् ॥६-४-११४॥
hasantamiva phenaughairnṛtyantamiva cormibhiḥ । candrodayasamudbhūtaṃ praticandrasamākulam ॥6-4-114॥
Translation
It seemed to be laughing with its masses of foam and dancing with its waves. Rising with the moonrise, it was filled with reflections of the moon.
हिंदी अनुवाद
...(वह समुद्र ऐसा लग रहा था) मानो फेन (झाग) के समूहों से हँस रहा हो और लहरों के द्वारा नाच रहा हो। चंद्रोदय होने पर वह (ज्वार से) उमड़ पड़ा था और उसमें बहुत से चंद्रमाओं (के प्रतिबिम्ब) दिखाई दे रहे थे।
English Commentary
Poetic personification. The ocean laughs (foam) and dances (waves). The interaction with the moon ('chandrodaya') causes tides and visual reflections, creating a dynamic, almost living entity.

काव्य सौंदर्य। समुद्र का मानवीकरण। झाग उसकी 'हँसी' है, लहरें 'नृत्य' हैं। चंद्रोदय के साथ ज्वार आता है और लहरों में चंद्रमा के अनेक प्रतिबिम्ब ('प्रतिचंद्र') दिखते हैं।
