Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
उत्तरा फल्गुनी ह्यद्य श्वस्तु हस्तेन योक्ष्यते ।
अभिप्रयाम सुग्रीव सर्वानीकसमावृताः ॥६-४-६॥
uttarā phalgunī hyadya śvastu hastena yokṣyate । abhiprayāma sugrīva sarvānīkasamāvṛtāḥ ॥6-4-6॥
Translation
Today is the Uttara Phalguni star, and tomorrow the moon will be in conjunction with Hasta. Therefore, O Sugriva, let us march forward surrounded by all our troops.
हिंदी अनुवाद
आज 'उत्तरा फाल्गुनी' नक्षत्र है और कल (चंद्रमा) 'हस्त' नक्षत्र से युक्त होगा। हे सुग्रीव! अतः हम अपनी समस्त सेनाओं के साथ (अभी) प्रस्थान करें।
English Commentary
This verse provides a crucial astronomical marker for the Ramayana's timeline. Shri Rama notes that the moon is in 'Uttara Phalguni', moving towards 'Hasta' the next day. Uttara Phalguni is associated with patronage and favors, while Hasta signifies the hand/grasping, symbolizing seizing victory. Scholarly, this indicates Shri Rama's adherence to celestial timing for strategic maneuvers.

यह श्लोक श्री रामायण की काल-गणना (Dating) के लिए अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण है। उत्तरा फाल्गुनी नक्षत्र सीता जी का जन्म नक्षत्र माना जाता है (विवाह के समय भी इसका उल्लेख है)। श्री राम इस नक्षत्र को शुभ मानकर यात्रा आरम्भ करते हैं। 'हस्त' नक्षत्र सिद्धिदायक होता है। श्री राम यहाँ सुग्रीव को आदेश दे रहे हैं कि पूरी सेना ('सर्वानीक') को साथ लेकर चलें।
