YUDDHA KANDA•SARGA: 4•SHLOKA: 85
प्लवमानैः प्लवङ्गैस्तु सर्वे पर्यकुलीकृताः ।
वाप्यस्तस्मिन् गिरौ शीताः पल्वलानि तथैव च ॥६-४-८५॥
plavamānaiḥ plavaṅgaistu sarve paryakulīkṛtāḥ । vāpyastasmin girau śītāḥ palvalāni tathaiva ca ॥6-4-85॥
Translation
The cool step-wells and small ponds on that mountain were all agitated/muddied by the monkeys swimming and plunging into them.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उस पर्वत पर स्थित शीतल बावड़ियाँ (वापियाँ) और छोटे तालाब (पल्वल), तैरते हुए और कूदते हुए वानरों द्वारा सब ओर से व्याकुल (गंदले/मथे हुए) कर दिए गए।
English Commentary
Disruption of nature. The thirsty and tired army dives into the pristine water bodies, disturbing ('paryakulikritah') the serene environment. It illustrates the physical impact of a massive army on the local ecology.
हिंदी टीका
वानरों का जल-विहार। थकी हुई सेना जब शीतल जल देखती है, तो अनुशासन थोड़ा ढीला पड़ जाता है। वे पानी में कूद पड़ते हैं जिससे साफ़ पानी 'पर्याकुलीकृताः' (गंदला/हलचल युक्त) हो जाता है।
