Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
लोकनाथस्य रामस्य सखा दासोऽस्मि राक्षस ।
न मया मोक्ष्यसेऽद्य त्वं पार्थिवेन्द्रस्य तेजसा ॥६-४०-१०॥
lokanāthasya rāmasya sakhā dāso'smi rākṣasa |
na mayā mokṣyase'dya tvaṃ pārthivendrasya tejasā ॥6-40-10॥
Translation
O Rakshasa! I am the friend and the servant of Shri Rama, the Lord of the worlds. Today, empowered by the brilliance of that King of Kings, you shall not escape me.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे राक्षस! मैं सम्पूर्ण लोकों के स्वामी श्री राम का मित्र और दास हूँ। आज राजाओं के इन्द्र (श्री राम) के तेज से सम्पन्न होने के कारण तुम मेरे हाथों बच नहीं सकोगे।
English Commentary
Sugriva identifies himself as both 'Sakha' (friend) and 'Dasa' (servant) of Shri Rama, perfectly capturing the multifaceted nature of devotion. He attributes his prowess not to himself, but to the divine 'Tejas' (brilliance) of Shri Rama. By calling Shri Rama 'Lokanatha' (Lord of the worlds), he warns Ravana that his enmity is not with a mere mortal, but with the Supreme Sovereign of existence.

सुग्रीव यहाँ अपनी पहचान 'सखा' और 'दास' दोनों के रूप में देते हैं। यह भक्त और भगवान के मधुर संबंध का परिचायक है। वे अपनी शक्ति का श्रेय स्वयं को न देकर श्री राम के 'तेज' को देते हैं। 'लोकनाथ' कहकर वे रावण को चेतावनी देते हैं कि वह किसी साधारण मनुष्य से नहीं, बल्कि जगत के स्वामी से बैर कर बैठा है।
