मुष्टिप्रहारैश्च तलप्रहारैररत्निघातैश्च कराग्रघातैः ।
तौ चक्रतुर्युद्धमसह्यरूपं महाबलौ वानरराक्षसेन्द्रौ ॥६-४०-१५॥
muṣṭiprahāraiśca talaprahārairaratnighātaiśca karāgraghātaiḥ |
tau cakraturyuddhamasahyaruūpaṃ mahābalau vānararākṣasendrau ॥6-40-15॥
Translation
With blows of fists and palms, strikes with elbows and the tips of their hands, the two mighty kings of the monkeys and the Rakshasas fought a terrible and unbearable duel.
हिंदी अनुवाद
घूँसों के प्रहारों, थप्पड़ों, कोहनियों की चोटों और अंगुलियों के अग्रभाग के प्रहारों से, उन महाबली वानरराज और राक्षसराज ने अत्यंत भयंकर युद्ध किया।
English Commentary
The verse lists various techniques of ancient Indian hand-to-hand combat: fists (Mushti), palms (Tala), elbows (Aratni), and finger-strikes. This indicates a high level of martial skill beyond mere brute strength. As both are 'Mahabala' (possessing great strength), the conflict becomes 'Asahya' (unbearable/intense), illustrating a clash where neither is willing to yield an inch.

यह श्लोक प्राचीन भारतीय युद्ध कला के विविध रूपों का वर्णन करता है। मुष्टि (घूँसा), तल (थप्पड़), अरत्नि (कोहनी) और कर-अग्र (अंगुलियों के प्रहार) का उल्लेख यह बताता है कि यह एक पूर्णतः निहत्था मल्ल-युद्ध था। दोनों ही 'महाबली' हैं, इसलिए युद्ध 'असह्य' यानी अत्यंत तीव्र हो गया है। यहाँ दोनों की प्रतिष्ठा दांव पर लगी है।
