शार्दूलसिंहाविव जातदर्पौ गजेन्द्रपोताविव संप्रयुक्तौ ।
संहत्य चापीड्य च तावुभेभ्यां निपेततुर्यौ युगपद्धरण्याम् ॥६-४०-१९॥
śārdūlasiṃhāviva jātadarpau gajendrapotāviva saṃprayuktau |
saṃhatya cāpīḍya ca tāvubhebhyāṃ nipetaturvau yugapaddharaṇyām ॥6-40-19॥
Translation
Like a proud lion and a tiger, or like two young bull-elephants locked in combat, they both crushed and struck each other, falling simultaneously to the earth.
हिंदी अनुवाद
अहंकार से भरे हुए सिंह और व्याघ्र के समान, तथा भिड़े हुए दो युवा हाथियों के समान, वे दोनों एक-दूसरे को दबाते और प्रहार करते हुए एक साथ भूमि पर गिर पड़े।
English Commentary
The comparison to a lion, a tiger, and elephants evokes images of raw, majestic power. These similes emphasize the ferocity and equal footing of the duelists. Falling 'simultaneously' (Yugapat) to the ground suggests a stalemate where neither warrior has yet gained a definitive advantage over the other, keeping the tension high.

सिंह, व्याघ्र और गज—ये तीनों ही शक्ति और राजसी वीरता के प्रतीक हैं। वाल्मीकि जी इन उपमाओं के माध्यम से युद्ध की भयंकरता और दोनों योद्धाओं की बराबरी को स्थापित करते हैं। 'युगपत्' (एक साथ) गिरना यह दर्शाता है कि अभी तक कोई भी एक-दूसरे पर पूरी तरह भारी नहीं पड़ा है।
