रक्तचन्दनसंकाशा सन्ध्या परमदारुणा ।
ज्वलच्च निपतत्येतदादित्यादग्निमण्डलम् ॥६-४१-१५॥
raktacandanasaṃkāśā sandhyā paramadāruṇā |
jvalacca nipatatyetadādityādagnimaṇḍalam ॥6-41-15॥
Translation
The twilight has become extremely terrifying, resembling the color of red sandalwood. And look, a burning mass of fire is falling from the sun.
हिंदी अनुवाद
संध्याकाल अत्यंत भयानक और लाल चंदन के समान रक्तवर्ण का हो गया है। और यह देखो, सूर्य से जलता हुआ अग्नि का गोला गिर रहा है।
English Commentary
The twilight, usually a time of peace, turns 'paramadaruna' (exceedingly dreadful) with the deep red hue of blood-sandalwood. The phenomenon of a fireball falling from the sun is a major celestial omen ('utpata') traditionally associated with the fall of kings or empires. Shri Rama interprets these cosmic anomalies as direct confirmations of the destiny awaiting the demon king Ravana.

संध्या का रंग लाल होना सामान्य है, लेकिन यहाँ 'परमदारुणा' (अत्यंत भयानक) और 'रक्तचन्दन' की उपमा उसे एक भयावह रूप देती है। सूर्य से अग्निपिंड का गिरना (उल्कापात) राजाओं के विनाश का सूचक माना जाता है। श्री राम लक्ष्मण का ध्यान आकाश की इन खगोलीय घटनाओं की ओर आकर्षित कर रहे हैं जो रावण के आसन्न पतन की गवाही दे रहे हैं।
