तौ त्वदीर्घेण कालेन भ्रातरौ रामलक्ष्मणौ ।
रावणस्य पुरीं लङ्कामासेदतुररिंदमौ ॥६-४१-३०॥
tau tvadīrgheṇa kālena bhrātarau rāmalakṣmaṇau |
rāvaṇasya purīṃ laṅkāmāsedaturariṃdamau ॥6-41-30॥
Translation
Those two brothers, Shri Rama and Lakshmana, the tamers of enemies, reached Ravana's city, Lanka, in a short time.
हिंदी अनुवाद
शत्रुओं का दमन करने वाले वे दोनों भाई, श्री राम और लक्ष्मण, शीघ्र ही (थोड़े ही समय में) रावण की नगरी लंका के पास पहुँच गए।
English Commentary
The march is swift. Shri Rama and Lakshmana, the 'Arindamau' (subduers of foes), arrive at the city walls quickly. The proximity emphasizes that the final confrontation is imminent. They have crossed the final physical distance separating them from their target.
हिंदी टीका
सुवेल पर्वत से लंका की दूरी अधिक नहीं थी, या उनकी गति बहुत तीव्र थी। 'अरिंदम' (शत्रुदमन) विशेषण का प्रयोग यहाँ उपयुक्त है क्योंकि वे शत्रु के द्वार पर पहुँच चुके हैं। यह श्लोक यात्रा (प्रस्थान) की समाप्ति और घेराबंदी (siege) के आरंभ का सूचक है।
