Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
तां सुरैरपि दुर्धर्षां रामवाक्यप्रचोदिताः ।
यथानिवेशं संपीड्य न्यविशन्त वनौकसः ॥६-४१-३२॥
tāṃ surairapi durdharṣāṃ rāmavākyapracoditāḥ |
yathāniveśaṃ saṃpīḍya nyaviśanta vanaukasaḥ ॥6-41-32॥
Translation
Inspried by Shri Rama's words, those forest-dwellers (monkeys) blockaded and took up positions around that Lanka—which was unconquerable even by gods—according to their assigned plan.
हिंदी अनुवाद
देवताओं के लिए भी अजेय उस लंका को, श्री राम के वचनों से प्रेरित होकर, उन वनवासियों (वानरों) ने शत्रु सेना को पीड़ित (बाधित) करते हुए अपनी-अपनी योजना अनुसार घेर लिया (निवेश किया)।
English Commentary
Driven by Shri Rama's command, the Vanaras accomplish a feat deemed impossible even for the Devas: besieging Lanka. They take positions 'yathanivesham' (according to the deployment plan), indicating order amidst the chaos. They blockaded the city, pressing in on the defenses ('sampidya'), effectively cutting off movement.

श्री राम की प्रेरणा से वानर वह कर रहे हैं जो देवता भी नहीं कर सके—लंका का घेराव। 'यथानिवेशं' का अर्थ है योजनाबद्ध तरीके से, जहाँ जिसको नियुक्त किया गया था। उन्होंने लंका की नाकाबंदी कर दी है। 'संपीड्य' का अर्थ है उन्होंने रक्षकों पर दबाव बनाया या रास्तों को रोक दिया।
